PORTABLE LAP DESKS
BOTSWANA – KEAOTSHEPHA THIBANYANA
Life is unpredictable, challenging and hard at times. Things go beyond of our control many times. Hope helps us keep the fight on and improves the chances of making our life better.
I found it fit to assist primary school going children by providing them with portable lap desks as most of African schools do not have enough furniture like tables and chairs for their students.
Our children are our future, we need to support their education at all cost, because giving hope to these children means giving hope to the nation.
It is a sad image to see:
- . children attending class under a tree, with no furniture available.
- . children sharing a single chair and table.
- . some even using their laps as desks.
Portable lap desks:
- . promotes better hand writing
- . portable, easy to carry around
- . has a teaching aid
- . recycling of hardboard
- . it is cheaper than conventional furniture in terms of manufacturing and maintenance
MUSE
JAPAN – Maki Kitahara
In Ancient Greek religion and mythology, the muses are inspirational goddesses of literature, science and the arts. I believe that women today are also like that and I named my project “Muse”, hoping that Iinspire women whom I interact with through my life to also do the same to others.
I used to think that I need to be able to do many things including what I am not good at to make change in my life and also to make change in the world. Maybe it is true but I started to think differently.
People have their own talent and uniqueness. There is no one who has the same character and personality, which means we can contribute to the world differently. People can contribute to the world by doing what they love to do and love what they do. If we respect such differences among people, we can work together and contribute with each other. I do not have to do what I am not good at because somebody loves to do it instead. In the meantime, I can contribute to others by doing what I love to do.
We can be mentally and physically wealthy and rich by exchanging our values.
Mission
To empower women to make a difference in the world and make their lives with full of inspiration.
Target
Japanese high-potential women leaders who have not yet be aware of what they love to do and their mission through their lives.
How
To help Japanese women to find what they love to do and their mission through their lives looking at how their lives demonstrate. To provide tips to communicate effectively with others to increase their influence in any size of communities including family, workplace and local community and to bring out the hidden talents of others at the same time. In my project “Muse”, women work together to increase their self esteem and help with each other.
We also respect differences and are pleased to know how we can contribute to others by doing what we love to do . In order to increase the influence of women, Muse provides networking opportunities for women to find strong partners to work with.
HEARTS 4 HOPE
SOUTH AFRICA – Anelda Jonker
Our main aim is to help people in need. Every one of us is unique as individuals, but our basic needs are all the same. We all want to feel loved, feel like we have a purpose in this world and we want to feel PART of something.
We have ambassadors over South Africa to visit schools and the community, so that awareness are raised on what projects we are busy with and how communities can support us and get involved.
We are continuously collecting non-perishable foods, clothes, stationary, books, toiletries and more to give to people that really does not have anything.
We strive to do two things: GIVE HOPE & BE THE CHANGE!
ISIBINDI
– Creating Circles of Care
SOUTH AFRICA – Anita Senekal
I have been working close with Isibindi in the heart of Saldanha for almost 4 years now. The Isibindi and I work together towards food gardens, income generation programs, the save park, child protection and the life center programs. We also support foster care, and disability programs. All the programs have been developed to address special areas of vulnerability.
I believe to work for a cause, not for an applause, live life to express, not to impress.
I don’t strive to make your presence noticed, I truly believe we as woman should be the inspiration to another, we should raise each other up to make sure we are very courageous,
BUBBLES of HOPE
SOUTH AFRICA – TEEN – BRONWYN STASSEN
I started this project, BUBBLES of HOPE as nothing makes my heart happier than seeing a warm smile and excitement on a child’s face I made a difference to.
This project will bring them happiness and a Smile of HOPE. Bubbles are one of the most joyous ‘toys of HOPE Every batch of bubbles is symbolic of Dreams, Hopes and Tranquillity.
It gives me joy to see how happy it makes them to receive such a small gift. One little boy did a dance right there. I asked him if that was his happy dance. He responded by saying “yes”. I told him I would dance too if someone gave me bubbles. It was a wonderful exchange.
Children have so much to teach us! All we have to do is pay attention to the small lessons and then apply what we have learned into our daily life. Let us all have the joy of little children. Hold on to your sense of wonder. BLOW BUBBLES and be overjoyed in their beauty as they float heavenward.t gives me joy to see how happy it makes them to receive such a small gift. - When children blow, pop, and chase bubbles not only does it keep them happy, they develop their small and large motors skills, such as hand-eye coordination, social and communication skills, speech skills, gross motor skills, fine motor skills and following direction.
- It helps us recover from trauma, cope with challenging situations, and gives us hope for a better tomorrow.
There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a happy and smiling child. I always help in any way I can, even if it’s just by giving them bubbles. A child’s smile is worth more than all the money in the world.
Let us all have the joy of little children. Hold on to your sense of wonder. BLOW BUBBLES and be overjoyed in their beauty as they float heavenward.
